본문: 느헤미야 2:9-20

(Neh 2:20, NIV11) I answered them by saying, “The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.”

    [3] "임금님, 만수무강 하시기를 빕니다. 소신의 조상이 묻힌 성읍이 폐허가 되고 성문들이 모두 불에 탔다는 소식을 듣고서, 울적한 마음을 가누지 못한 탓입니다" 하고 아뢰었더니,

    [4] "네가 바라는 것이 무엇이냐?" 하고, 왕께서 또 나에게 물으셨다. 나는 하늘의 하나님께 기도를 드리고 나서,

    [5] 왕에게 말씀드렸다. "임금님께서 좋으시면, 임금님께서 소신을 좋게 여기시면, 소신의 조상이 묻혀 있는 유다의 그 성읍으로 저를 보내 주셔서, 그 성읍을 다시 세우게 하여 주시기를 바랍니다."

    [6] 그 때에 왕후도 왕 옆에 앉아 있었다. 왕은 "그렇게 다녀오려면 얼마나 걸리겠느냐? 언제쯤 돌아올 수 있겠느냐?" 하고 나에게 물으셨다. 왕이 기꺼이 허락하실 것 같은 생각이 들어서, 나는 얼마가 걸릴지를 말씀드렸다.

    [7] 나는 왕에게 덧붙여서 말씀드렸다. "임금님께서 좋으시다면, 소신이 유다까지 무사히 갈 수 있도록 유프라테스 서쪽 지방의 총독들에게 보내는 친서를 몇 통 내려 주시기 바랍니다.

    [8] 또 왕실 숲을 맡아 보는 아삽에게도, 나무를 공급하라고 친서를 내리셔서, 제가 그 나무로 성전 옆에 있는 성채 문짝도 짜고, 성벽도 쌓고, 소신이 살 집도 짓게 하여 주시기 바랍니다." 나의 하나님이 선하신 손길로 나를 잘 보살펴 주셔서, 왕이 나의 청을 들어주었다.

    [2] so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.” I was very much afraid,

    [3] but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

    [4] The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven,

    [5] and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”

    [6] Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.

    [7] I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah?

    [8] And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests.

    [12] 밤에 수행원을 몇 명 데리고 순찰을 나섰다. 하나님이 나의 마음을 움직이셔서 예루살렘에서 일하도록 하신 것을, 나는 그 때까지 어느 누구에게도 말하지 아니하였다. 나에게 짐승이라고는, 내가 탄 것밖에 없었다.

    [13] 밤에 나는 '골짜기 문'을 나섰다. '용 샘'을 지나 '거름 문'에 이르기까지 예루살렘 성벽을 살펴보니, 성벽은 다 허물어지고, 문들도 모두 불에 탄 채로 버려져 있었다.

    [14] '샘 문'과 '왕의 연못'에 이르렀을 때에는, 내가 탄 짐승이 더 나아갈 길이 없었다.

    [15] 그래서 그 날 밤에 나는 계곡을 따라 올라가면서, 성벽을 둘러보고, 다시 '골짜기 문'을 지나 되돌아왔다.

    [16] 그 때에 내가 유다 사람들이나, 제사장들이나, 귀족들이나, 관리들이나, 그 밖에 직책을 가진 어느 누구에게도 이것을 말하지 아니하였으므로, 관리들은, 내가 어디를 다녀왔는지, 무엇을 하였는지, 아무도 알지 못하였다.

    [9] So I went to the governors of Trans-Euphrates and gave them the king’s letters. The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.

    [10] When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.

    [11] I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days

    [12] I set out during the night with a few others. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on.

    [13] By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal* Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire. / *Or Serpent or Fig

    [14] Then I moved on toward the Fountain Gate and the King’s Pool, but there was not enough room for my mount to get through;

    [15] so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall. Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate.

    [16] The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, because as yet I had said nothing to the Jews or the priests or nobles or officials or any others who would be doing the work.

    [20] 내가 나서서 그들에게 대답하였다. "하늘의 하나님이 우리를 위하여 이 일을 꼭 이루어 주실 것이오. 성벽을 다시 쌓는 일은 그분의 종인 우리가 해야 할 일이오. 예루살렘에서는 당신들이 차지할 몫이 없소. 주장할 권리도 기억할 만한 전통도 없소."

    [17] Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.”

    [18] I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.

    [19] But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. “What is this you are doing?” they asked. “Are you rebelling against the king?”

    [20] I answered them by saying, “The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.”

지난 주 설교 / Last Sunday's Sermon

Let us say to one another, 'I love you.' Let us say, 'I will serve you diligently.' Let us say, 'I will pray for you.' Let us ask one another for prayer requests and share them. The very act of praying is beginning a great work. May you become worship frontiersmen and women who grow in holiness through the small act of prayer.

But before we do that, I'd like us to say "Let us first lift up our hands to the Lord" and do a Hi Five to each other. Let's live as witnesses to the encounters the Lord leads, and the "Lord's presence" in all things.

서로에게 ‘사랑합니다’라고 말합시다.
’힘써 섬기겠다’고 말합시다.
‘기도해 드리겠다’고 말합시다.
서로에게 기도제목을 물어보며 기도제목을 나누도록 합시다.
기도를 한다는 것 자체가 위대한 일을 시작한 것입니다. 기도라는 작은 섬김에서 성고하는 워십프론티어 성도들이 되기를 축복합니다.

그런데 이렇기 하기 전에 “먼저 주님께 두손을 들어올립시다”
더불어 서로를 향하여 Hi Five 하면 좋겠습니다.
주님이 이끄시는 만남과 만물위에 “주님의 사이"가 있음을 목도하며 살아가십시다.

Title: Motivating Leadership – Rebuilding Fellowship Together

제목: 동기부여하는 리더십 – 함께 세우는 교제의 삶

Text: Nehemiah 2:17–20
본문: 느헤미야 2장 17–20절

📖 Scripture / 본문 말씀

“Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem.” (Nehemiah 2:17)
“자, 우리가 일어나 성벽을 다시 세우자.” (느헤미야 2:17)

Nehemiah’s call wasn’t just about rebuilding walls — it was about rebuilding hearts and community.
느헤미야의 외침은 단순히 무너진 성벽을 다시 세우는 일이 아니라, 무너진 마음과 공동체를 다시 세우는 일이었습니다.

🟩 1. Shared Compassion / 공감의 리더십

True leadership begins with empathy. Nehemiah said “we,” not “you.”
참된 리더십은 공감에서 시작됩니다. 느헤미야는 “너희”가 아니라 “우리”라고 말했습니다.

He didn’t blame the people but shared in their suffering and took responsibility together.
그는 백성을 탓하지 않고, 함께 아파하며 책임을 나누었습니다.

“You see the trouble we are in… Come, let us rebuild.” (v.17)
“우리가 당한 환난을 보라… 자, 우리가 일어나 건축하자.” (17절)

🟦 2. Speaking Truth with Hope / 진실을 말하되 소망을 전하라

Nehemiah faced the reality of brokenness but never lost hope.
느헤미야는 무너진 현실을 직면했지만, 소망을 잃지 않았습니다.

He confessed, “The gracious hand of my God was upon me.”
그는 고백했습니다. “내 하나님의 선한 손이 나를 도우셨다.”

Faith doesn’t ignore reality — it declares God’s presence in the middle of it.
믿음은 현실을 외면하지 않습니다. 그 현실 속에서도 하나님의 임재(말씀, 호흡, 바람)를 선포합니다.

🟧 3. Testimony that Inspires / 사람을 세우는 간증

When Nehemiah shared how God helped him, the people were moved to action.
느헤미야가 하나님의 손길을 간증하자, 백성들은 다시 일어섰습니다.

“They said, ‘Let us rise up and build!’ So they strengthened their hands for the good work.” (v.18)
“그들이 이르되 우리가 일어나 건축하자 하고, 모든 손을 힘있게 하였느니라.” (18절)

A motivating leader doesn’t just give orders — he inspires hearts through testimony.
동기부여하는 리더는 명령(충고, manuplation)하지 않고, 간증으로 마음을 움직입니다.

🟨 4. True Fellowship / 참된 교제의 리더십

From Life Study 2: “New Life”, true fellowship means sharing in Christ’s mission together.
우리 교회의 ‘삶공부 - 새로운 삶’의 내용 중에서 — 참된 교제란 그리스도의 사명에 함께 참여하는 것입니다.

Five Aspects of True Fellowship
참된 교제의 다섯 가지 모습

1️⃣ Participation in Ministry (Phil. 1:5) – joining the work of the gospel
  사역에 동참하는 교제 – 복음의 일에 함께 참여함
2️⃣ Striving for Unity (Phil. 2:1–2) – same love, same purpose
  하나됨을 힘쓰는 교제 – 같은 마음과 같은 사랑
3️⃣ Sharing Christ’s Suffering (Phil. 3:10) – standing firm in hardship
  그리스도의 고난에 동참하는 교제 – 어려움 속에서도 함께함
4️⃣ Serving without Faction (Phil. 1:15–18) – Christ above all motives
  파벌 없는 사역의 교제 – 목적은 오직 그리스도를 전함
5️⃣ Serving without Envy (James 2:14–16) – love expressed in action
  시기와 경쟁이 없는 교제 – 사랑을 행동으로 나타냄

This is the spiritual framework that holds the church together.
이것이 바로 교회를 붙잡는 영적 구조물, 즉 성벽의 기초입니다.

🟥 5. Vigilant Faith / 깨어 있는 믿음

Whenever we begin God’s work, opposition comes.
하나님의 일이 시작되면, 언제나 방해와 조롱이 따라옵니다.

Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem mocked Nehemiah, saying, “What are you doing?”
산발랏과 도비야와 게셈은 느헤미야를 비웃으며 말했습니다. “너희가 무슨 일을 하느냐?”

But Nehemiah’s answer was full of faith:
그러나 느헤미야의 대답은 확신의 믿음으로 가득했습니다.

“The God of heaven will give us success; we His servants will arise and build.” (v.20)
“하늘의 하나님이 우리를 형통하게 하시리니, 우리는 일어나 건축하리라.” (20절)

We must guard against the enemy who steals joy, divides hearts, and spreads fear.
기쁨을 빼앗고, 마음을 나누며, 두려움을 심는 원수를 경계해야 합니다.

Faith that stays awake doesn’t surrender to fear — it rebuilds.
깨어 있는 믿음은 두려움에 무너지지 않고, 다시 세웁니다.

🟫 6. Application / 적용

  • In Family: Restore communication and forgiveness.
      가정에서: 대화와 용서를 회복하십시오.

  • In Church: Serve together with encouragement, not comparison.
      교회에서: 비교 대신 격려로 함께 섬기십시오.

  • In Life: Keep building with faith when others give up. Choose honesty over compromise
    and don't give up.
      삶 속에서 (직장, 학업): 세상이 포기할 때 믿음으로 세우십시오. 타협대신 정직을 선택하며 포기하지 마십시다

💬 Conclusion / 결론

Nehemiah rebuilt more than walls — he rebuilt hearts, courage, and faith.
느헤미야는 단순히 성벽을 세운 것이 아니라, 사람의 마음과 믿음을 세웠습니다.

Leadership that motivates begins with compassion and ends in faith.
사람을 일으키는 리더십은 공감으로 시작되고 믿음으로 완성됩니다.

Let us also rise up and build together for God’s glory.
우리도 일어나 함께 세워, 하나님의 영광을 드러냅시다.

“The God of heaven will give us success.”
“하늘의 하나님이 우리를 형통하게 하시리니.”

  • Title: Motivating Leadership – Rebuilding True Fellowship

    Text: Nehemiah 2:17–20

    1. Introduction – From Broken Walls to Rebuilt Hearts

    When Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem, he saw ruins everywhere — broken walls, discouraged people, and spiritual despair. Yet he didn’t begin with command or criticism. He began with identification and compassion.

    “You see the trouble we are in… Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem.” (Nehemiah 2:17)

    Nehemiah didn’t say “you.” He said “we.” That is the heart of biblical leadership — not separation but solidarity, not blame but belonging.

    When the people heard these words, something awakened in their hearts. They realized this was not just about rebuilding a wall — it was about rebuilding fellowship, the very bond that had been broken by sin, division, and fear.

    2. The Three Marks of a Motivating Leader

    (1) Sharing in the Suffering

    True leaders walk with their people.
    Nehemiah entered the pain of the community. He didn’t remain in comfort; he took part in their burden.

    Likewise, God calls us to share in the suffering of others — to see our church, family, and nation not from a distance, but from the inside.

    Fellowship begins when we stop saying “their problem” and start saying “our problem.”

    (2) Speaking the Truth in Love

    Nehemiah spoke honestly about the brokenness of the city, but with hope.
    He acknowledged the pain, yet he pointed to the promise of God.
    He said, “God’s gracious hand has been upon me.”

    Motivating leaders do not ignore reality; they face it with faith.
    They speak truth with gentleness, conviction with compassion.

    (3) Inspiring Others with Testimony

    Nehemiah’s testimony about God’s grace became the spark that ignited faith in others.
    When the people heard his story, they responded:

    “Let us rise up and build.” (v.18)

    Testimony has power.
    When one person speaks of God’s faithfulness, it becomes fuel for the entire community’s courage.

    3. True Fellowship: The Foundation of Rebuilding

    Our church’s Life Study 2 – “New Life” teaches us what true fellowship means. It’s more than simply gathering — it’s sharing in Christ’s mission together.

    🌿 True Fellowship (참된 교제의 다섯 가지 모습)

    1. Participation in Ministry (사역에 동참) – Philippians 1:5

      “Because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
      Fellowship is joining hands in the same mission.

    2. Effort to Become One (하나됨을 힘씀) – Philippians 2:1–2

      “Make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love.”
      Unity is not automatic — it must be pursued and protected.

    3. Participation in Christ’s Suffering (그리스도의 고난에 참여) – Philippians 3:10

      Fellowship is not only joy but also shared suffering for the gospel.

    4. Serving Without Faction (파벌 없는 사역) – Philippians 1:15–18

      “Whether in pretense or truth, Christ is preached, and in this I rejoice.”
      True leaders serve for Christ’s glory, not for personal position.

    5. Serving Without Competition or Envy (시기와 경쟁 없는 사역) – James 2:14–16

      Fellowship that bears fruit acts out of compassion, not comparison.

    4. The Enemy’s Strategy and the Believer’s Vigilance

    But just as Nehemiah began to rebuild, opposition came.
    Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem mocked and ridiculed the work, trying to weaken their resolve.

    “What is this you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?” (v.19)

    Likewise, the enemy still works to steal the life of believers —
    through discouragement, distraction, and division.

    The devil whispers lies that isolate us:
    “You are alone.” “You can’t change.” “Your work doesn’t matter.”
    He deceives us with fear and pride so that we cannot fulfill the mission God has given us.

    That is why Nehemiah’s response must also be ours:

    “The God of heaven will give us success; we His servants will arise and build.” (v.20)

    We must awaken from spiritual sleep and stand firm against fear.
    We must examine our hearts and ask:
    “What in my life resists God’s kingdom? What destroys unity in my home, church, or community?”

    Faith that is awake does not surrender to fear — it rebuilds.

    5. Application – Living as Builders of Fellowship

    In this new season of the church and school year, God calls us to become builders of true fellowship:

    • In our families, let’s restore prayer and forgiveness.

    • In our workplaces and schools, let’s show Christ’s humility and integrity.

    • In our church, let’s serve not for recognition but for love.

    • And in our nation, let’s be salt and light — people who heal, not divide.

    When we live this way, the broken walls of our hearts and communities will be rebuilt.

    6. Conclusion – The God of Heaven Will Give Us Success

    Nehemiah didn’t rebuild Jerusalem alone.
    He built faith into people who had lost hope.
    He motivated not by command but by example — not by strength, but by testimony.

    God is calling our church to the same vision today:
    To rebuild what is broken — in relationships, in unity, in mission.

    Let us declare together:

    “The God of heaven will give us success; we His servants will arise and build.” (Nehemiah 2:20)

    As we stand together in true fellowship —
    with prayer, humility, and vigilance —
    God will once again rebuild His church, His people, and His glory among us.

    ‘우리’라는 말이 참 따뜻하지 않습니까?
    리더십은 명령하는 게 아니라 함께 일어나는 것입니다.
    누군가를 위로하고, 옆에서 손잡아 주고, 함께 눈물 흘리는 것, 그것이 하나님이 기뻐하시는 리더십입니다.

    오늘 우리 교회와 청년들에게도 하나님은 이렇게 말씀하십니다.
    “너 혼자가 아니야. 함께 세우자.”

    2. 느헤미야의 세 가지 리더십

    (1) 공감의 리더십

    느헤미야는 예루살렘 사람들의 고통 속으로 들어갔습니다.
    그는 ‘그들’이 아니라 ‘우리’라고 했습니다.

    “우리가 당한 환난을 보라.”

    누군가의 아픔을 내 일처럼 여길 때, 거기서 진짜 리더십이 시작됩니다.
    공감이 없는 리더는 사람의 마음을 움직일 수 없습니다.
    하나님은 공감할 줄 아는 리더, 눈물로 함께 기도할 줄 아는 사람을 사용하십니다.

    (2) 진실을 말하는 리더십

    느헤미야는 현실을 외면하지 않았습니다.
    성벽이 무너졌다는 사실을 그대로 말했습니다.
    하지만 절망만 말하지 않았습니다.

    그는 이렇게 고백했습니다.

    “내 하나님의 선한 손이 나를 도우셨다.” (느 2:18)

    하나님이 함께하신다는 확신이 있었기에, 현실을 직면하면서도 소망을 말할 수 있었습니다.

    진짜 용기는 문제를 보면서도 희망을 잃지 않는 것입니다.

    (3) 하나님의 손을 간증하는 리더십

    느헤미야는 자신의 능력이 아니라 하나님의 은혜를 간증했습니다.
    그때 백성들의 마음이 움직였습니다.

    “그들이 이르되 우리가 일어나 건축하자 하고 모든 손을 힘있게 하였느니라.” (느 2:18)

    리더십은 말로 사람을 움직이는 것이 아니라,
    삶으로 보여주는 간증으로 사람을 일으키는 것입니다.

    3. 참된 교제의 리더십 – “함께” 세우는 신앙

    우리 교회가 함께 삶공부에서 “새로운 삶’에서 참된 교제가 무엇인지를 배웁니다.
    참된된 교제란 단순히 모임을 갖는 것이 아니라, 그리스도의 사역에 함께 참여하는 것입니다.

    🌿 참된 교제의 다섯 가지 모습

    1. 사역에 동참하는 교제 – “복음 안에서 너희가 참여함으로” (빌 1:5)

    2. 하나됨을 힘쓰는 교제 – “마음을 같이하여 같은 사랑을 가지라” (빌 2:1–2)

    3. 그리스도의 고난에 참여하는 교제 – “그의 고난에 참여함을 알고자 하여” (빌 3:10)

    4. 파벌 없는 사역의 교제 – “무슨 방도로 하든지 그리스도만 전파된다면 나는 기뻐한다” (빌 1:15–18)

    5. 시기와 경쟁이 없는 교제 – “말과 혀로만 사랑하지 말고 행함과 진실함으로 하자” (약 2:14–16)

    이 다섯 가지가 바로 무너지 공동체를 세우는 뼈대가 됩니다.
    이것이 무너지면, 성벽이 아무리 높아도 공동체는 서 있을 수 없습니다.

    4. 원수의 방해와 깨어 있는 믿음

    하나님의 일이 시작되면 반드시 방해가 옵니다.
    산발랏과 도비야와 게셈은 느헤미야를 비웃으며 조롱했습니다.

    “너희가 무슨 일을 하려느냐? 왕을 배반하려느냐?” (느 2:19)

    오늘날에도 마찬가지입니다.
    사탄은 여전히 성도의 마음을 무너뜨리고, 두려움과 불안을 심습니다.
    “넌 안 돼.” “네 기도는 소용없어.” “교회는 변하지 않아.”
    이런 속삭임이 바로 영적 전쟁입니다.

    그때 우리는 이렇게 선포해야 합니다.

    “하늘의 하나님이 우리를 형통하게 하시리니, 우리는 일어나 건축하리라.” (느 2:20)

    사랑하는 성도 여러분,
    하나님의 손이 여러분의 삶에도 있습니다.
    가정안에서도, 학업 속에서도, 직장 속에서도, 관계 속에서도
    하나님은 ‘다시 세우는 은혜’를 준비하고 계십니다.

    5. 적용 – 나의 삶에서 ‘무너진 성벽’을 세우라

    이 말씀은 우리 각자의 인생에서 세워야 할 ‘성벽’이 있습니다.

    • 가정에서: 대화가 끊긴 가족과 다시 마음을 잇는 것이 성벽입니다.

    • 학교와 직장에서: 타협 대신 정직을 선택하는 것이 성벽입니다.

    • 교회 안에서: 비교 대신 감사로 섬기는 것이 성벽입니다.

    무너진 곳을 본다면, 그것이 바로 하나님이 나를 부르시는 자리입니다.
    기도하며 작은 순종으로 한 걸음 내딛을 때,
    하나님은 그 작은 헌신을 통해 큰 일을 이루십니다.

    6. 결론 – 하나님이 형통하게 하실 것이다

    느헤미야는 혼자가 아니었습니다.
    하나님이 함께하셨고, 백성이 일어섰습니다.
    그들의 손은 약했지만, 하나님의 손은 강했습니다.

    “하늘의 하나님이 우리를 형통하게 하시리니, 우리는 일어나 건축하리라.” (느 2:20)

    이 고백이 오늘 우리의 고백이 되길 바랍니다.
    가정에서도, 일터에서도, 교회 안에서도,
    하나님이 함께하시면 무너진 것은 반드시 회복됩니다.

    성도 여러분, 청년 여러분,
    세상이 흔들릴수록 여러분의 믿음이 흔들리지 않길 바랍니다.
    하나님은 여러분 한 사람을 통해
    다시 세우시고, 다시 일으키시며, 다시 부흥케 하실 것입니다.

    “일어나 건축하자.” — 지금이 그때입니다.
