[나의 고백] "두려움의 뿌리를 끊어내는 임마누엘의 약속"
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." (Psalm 23:4)
[마음으로 깊이 받는 말씀]
내가 비록 죽음의 그늘 골짜기로 다닐지라도, 주님께서 나와 함께 계시고, 주님의 지팡이와 막대기로 나를 위로해 주시니, 내게는 두려움이 없습니다. (시편 23편 4절)
내가 너에게 명하지 아니하였느냐 강하고 담대하라 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말라 네가 어디로 가든지 네 하나님 여호와가 너와 함께 하느니라 하시니라. (여호수아 1장 9절)
두려워하지 말아라. 내가 너와 함께 있다. 놀라지 말아라. 내가 너의 하나님이다. 내가 너를 억세게 하겠다. 내가 너를 도와주겠다. 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들어 주겠다. (이사야 41장 10절)
배가 풍랑에 휩쓸려 제자들이 두려워할 때, 예수께서 즉시 말씀하셨다. "안심하여라. 나다. 두려워하지 마라." (마태복음 14장 27절)
주님은 나를 돕는 분이시니, 내게는 두려움이 없다. 사람이 나에게 무슨 해를 끼칠 수 있겠느냐? (히브리서 13장 6절)

1. 나를 마비시키는 '고립된 두려움' 내가 아는 두려움은 언제나 내가 '혼자'라는 차가운 감각과 함께 찾아왔습니다. 사회적인 실패나 예기치 못한 질병처럼 나보다 훨씬 거대한 문제 앞에서 나를 도와줄 사람이 아무도 없다는 생각이 나를 마비시키곤 했습니다. 하지만 내가 아는 복음은 이 두려움의 근저에 있는 고립감을 정면으로 돌파합니다. 주님은 내가 어둠 속에 있을 때 책망하기보다, 그저 그곳에서 나와 주님 곁으로 오라고 끊임없이 손을 내미십니다.
2. 두려움의 근거를 자르는 '임마누엘의 위로' 내가 아는 하나님은 "두려워하지 말라"고 명령하실 때, 반드시 "내가 너와 함께 있다"는 약속을 덧붙여 주십니다. 이것은 도덕적인 훈계가 아니라 존재론적인 선언임을 깨닫습니다. 주님이 나와 함께 계신다는 사실이 믿어질 때, 나를 집어삼키려던 두려움의 근거들은 힘없이 잘려 나갑니다. 내 상황이 변해서가 아니라, 나를 결코 떠나지 않으시는 주님이 내 곁에 계시기에 나는 다시 일어설 용기를 얻습니다.
3. 얼굴을 마주 볼 때 사라질 '마지막 두려움' 내가 아는 소망은 언젠가 주님을 얼굴과 얼굴로 대면할 그날에 완성됩니다. 지금은 때때로 안개 속을 걷는 듯 두려움이 엄습하지만, 그리스도의 보혈로 맺어진 그분의 약속은 결코 변하지 않음을 신뢰합니다. 주님은 나의 조력자이시며, 사람이 내게 어찌할 수 없음을 당당히 선포합니다. 마지막 날, 예수님의 품 안에서 모든 두려움이 영원히 씻겨 내려갈 그날을 기다리며 오늘을 담대히 걷겠습니다.

”모든 두려움의 이면에는 혼자라는 고립감이 있습니다. 하지만 당신이 혼자가 아니라면 두려움의 근거는 사라집니다. 예수님은 말씀하십니다. ‘내가 결코 너를 떠나지 않겠다.’””
[오늘 마음 모아 드리는 기도]
주여, 오늘 나를 에워싼 수많은 두려움 앞에서 내가 혼자가 아님을 기억하게 하소서. 어둠의 골짜기를 지날지라도 나를 결코 떠나지 않으시는 주님의 지팡이와 막대기를 의지하며 다시금 평안을 되찾게 하소서.
주여, 오늘 사람의 시선이나 세상의 평가 때문에 고립되지 않게 하소서. "안심하라 나다"라고 말씀하시는 주님의 음성에만 귀를 기울이게 하시고, 세상이 줄 수 없는 하늘의 평안으로 나의 마음과 생각을 지켜 주소서.
Lord, help me remember today that I am not alone in the face of the many fears that surround me. Even as I pass through the valley of darkness, let me regain peace by relying on Your rod and staff, for You will never leave me.
Lord, let me not be isolated today by the gaze of others or the evaluation of the world. Help me listen only to Your voice saying, "Take heart; it is I," and guard my heart and mind with the peace of heaven that the world cannot give.
