다니엘 금식 기도 소개: 기도의 사람 “다니엘”의 삶속에서 신앙인의 삶에 나타나는 중요한 모습 3가지를 - (1) 믿음의 결단 (2) 금식하는 모습 (3) 기도응답 - 발견합니다. 우리 워십프론티어 교회도 이번 사순절 기간중에 21일 동안 “믿음의 결단”과 “금식 기도”의 시간을 갖고 소중한 기도 응답을 받기를 간절히 바랍니다.
[1] 믿음의 결단
다니엘과 3친구들은 (1) 자신들을 더럽히는 음식을 먹지 않겠다고 결심합니다. 우리도 삶의 성숙을 위해 이번 기회에 버려야 할 것을 결단하도록 합시다. 더불어, 삶의 성숙을 위해 연습하고 취할 것이 무엇인지 결단할 수 있기를 바랍니다. 그리하여 우리 각자는 21일 동안 이루어지기를 원하는 <한가지 구체적인 기도제목>을 정하도록 합시다.
(단 1:8, 11-17) “「8」 다니엘은 왕이 내린 음식과 포도주로 자기를 더럽히지 않겠다고 마음을 먹고, 환관장에게 자기를 더럽히지 않을 수 있도록 해 달라고 간청하였다."
「11」 다니엘은 감독관에게로 갔다. 그 감독관은 환관장이 임명한 사람으로서, 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴를 감독하는 일을 맡은 사람이다. 다니엘이 그 감독관에게 요청하였다.
「12」 "부디 이 종들을 열흘 동안만 시험하여 보시기 바랍니다. 우리에게 채소를 주어 먹게 하고, 물을 주어 마시게 하여 보시기 바랍니다.
「13」 그런 다음에, 우리의 얼굴빛과 왕이 내린 음식을 먹는 젊은이들의 얼굴빛을 비교하여 보시고, 이 종들의 요청을 처리하여 주시기 바랍니다."
「14」 그래서 감독관은 그 말을 따라서, 열흘 동안 시험해 보았다.
「15」 열흘이 지났을 때에 보니, 그들의 얼굴빛이 왕이 내린 음식을 먹은 젊은이들의 얼굴빛보다 좋고 건강하여 보였다.
「16」 감독관은 그들에게 지정된 음식과 마실 포도주를 주지 않고, 채소를 계속 주어서 먹게 하였다.
「17」 하나님은 이 네 젊은이들이 지식을 얻게 하시고, 문학과 학문에 능통하게 하셨다. 그 밖에도 다니엘에게는 환상과 온갖 꿈을 해석하는 능력까지 주셨다.”
[2] 21일 구체적인 fasting 실천
기도의 사람 다니엘의 fasting은 전혀 음식을 먹지 않는 것이 아니라 특정 음식을 멀리하는 “부분 fasting” 입니다. 그리고 그는 2~3일 하는 fasting이 아니라, 3이레(21일)동안 금식을 하였습니다. 21일동안 “뜻을 정하고 fasting”하는 것은 매우 중요합니다. 다니엘 뿐만 아니라 자기를 관리하고 어떤 중요한 삶의 습관을 고치는 경험을 한 사람들은 3주간의 시간이 절대적으로 필요하다고 강조 합니다.
다니엘은 1장에서 “왕이 준 음식과 포도주는 멀리하고, 야채와 물”을 먹었고, 10장에서는 “좋은 음식과 고기와 포도주도” 멀리 했습니다. 우리도 이 기간에 멀리할 음식을 정하거나 채소와 곡류로 식사를 하면 좋겠습니다. 더불어 이 시대를 살아가는 우리에게는 <미디어 금식>을 정하는 것이 매우 중요합니다. TV, 인터넷 영상, 넷플릭스, 유튜브와 관련된 미디어 금식을 정하여 21일동안 힘쓰면 놀라운 삶의 변화를 경험하게 될 것입니다.
Fasting을 통하여 얻게 되는 여분의 시간에 <말씀과 기도>에 힘쓰시길 부탁 드립니다. [목회자 코너 참조]
(단 10:1-3) “「1」 페르시아의 고레스 왕 제 삼년에, 일명 벨드사살이라고 하는 다니엘이 계시로 말씀을 받았다. 그 말씀은 참된 것이었는데, 환상을 보는 가운데, 심한 고생 끝에 겨우 그 뜻을 깨달았다.
「2」 그 때에 나 다니엘은 세 이레 동안 고행하였다.
「3」 세 이레 내내 좋은 음식을 삼가고, 고기와 포도주도 입에 대지 않았으며, 몸에 기름을 전혀 바르지 않았다.”
“「1」 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar. And the word was true, and it was a great conflict. And he understood the word and had understanding of the vision.
「2」 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three weeks.
「3」 I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks.”
[3] 기도응답을 경험합니다.
다니엘은 놀라운 기도의 응답을 경험합니다. 다니엘의 시대는 민족의 운명을 위해 하나님께 간절히 기도할 수 밖에 없는 때였습니다. 우리도 개인의 미래, 가족의 미래, 이 시대와 사회와 열방의 미래을 위해 기도하지 않고는 살 수 없는 절박함을 갖고 있습니다. 하나님은 항상 하나님의 사람들을 지키시고 보호하시고 인도하십니다. “다니엘아, 네가 하나님 앞에서 스스로 겸손하여 지기로 결심한 그 첫날 부터 네 간구를 들으셨고 응답하셨다” 다니엘에게 신실하셨던 하나님께서 이번에 우리 워십프론티어 신자들에게도 함께 하셔서 간절한 기도에 응답하실 줄 믿습니다.
(단 10:11-13) “「11」 그가 내게 말하였다. "하나님께 큰 사랑을 받은 사람 다니엘아, 이제 내가 네게 하는 말을 주의해서 들어라. 너는 일어서라. 지금 나를 네게로 보내셔서 이렇게 왔다." 그가 내게 이 말을 할 때에, 나는 일어섰으나 여전히 떨렸다.
「12」 그가 내게 말하였다. "다니엘아, 두려워하지 말아라. 네가 이 일을 깨달으려고 하나님 앞에서 스스로 겸손하여지기로 결심한 그 첫날부터, 하나님은 네가 간구하는 말을 들으셨다. 네가 간구하는 말에 응답하려고 내가 왔다.
「13」 그러나 페르시아 왕국의 천사장이 스무하루 동안 내 앞을 막았다. 내가 페르시아에 홀로 남아 있었으므로, 천사장 가운데 하나인 미가엘이 나를 도와주었다.”

(단 1:8, 11-17) “「8」 But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself.”
「11」 Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had assigned over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
「12」 "Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink.
「13」 Then let our appearance and the appearance of the youths who eat the king's food be observed by you, and deal with your servants according to what you see."
「14」 So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days.
「15」 At the end of ten days it was seen that they were better in appearance and fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate the king's food.
「16」 So the steward took away their food and the wine they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.
「17」 As for these four youths, God gave them learning and skill in all literature and wisdom, and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”

(단 10:11-13) “「11」 And he said to me, "O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you." And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling.
「12」 Then he said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.
「13」 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia,”

About the Daniel Fasting Prayer: In the life of Daniel, a man of prayer, we discover three important aspects of the life of faith - (1) a decision of faith, (2) fasting, and (3) answered prayer. We at HopeFrontier Church are encouraged to take 21 days of "faithfulness" and "fasting" this Lent to receive important prayer answers.
[1] Stepping Out in Faith
Daniel and his three friends decide to (1) stop eating food that defiles them. Let us also take this opportunity to decide what we need to let go of in order to mature in our lives. And may we also decide what we will practice and take up to grow in our lives. Then, let each of us decide on <one specific prayer request> that we want to see fulfilled during the 21 days.
(Dan. 1:8, 11-17) "8 "Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the food and wine that the king had given him, and he asked the king's governor that he might not defile himself."
"11" Daniel went to the overseer, the man appointed by the king to oversee Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Daniel made a request of the proctor.
"12" "Please test these servants for only ten days. Give us vegetables to eat, and give us water to drink.
"13 "Then compare the color of our faces with the color of the faces of the young men who eat the king's food, and grant these servants' request."
"14" So the overseer did as he was told and tested them for ten days.
"15" At the end of the ten days, their complexions looked better and healthier than the complexions of the young men who ate the king's food.
"16" The overseer did not give them the designated food and wine to drink, but kept giving them vegetables to eat.
"17" God made these four young men knowledgeable and skilled in literature and scholarship, and He also gave Daniel the ability to interpret visions and all kinds of dreams."
[2] 21 Days of Specific Fasting Practices
Daniel's fasting as a man of prayer was not one of abstaining from food at all, but of "partial fasting" - abstaining from certain foods. And he didn't fast for two or three days, but for three years (21 days). It is very important to "fast with intention" for 21 days. Daniel, as well as others who have had the experience of taking care of themselves and making certain important life habits, say that three weeks is absolutely necessary.
Daniel ate "vegetables and water, away from the food and wine given to him by the king," in chapter 1, and "good food, meat, and wine" in chapter 10. We too can choose foods to abstain from during this time, or we can choose to eat vegetables and grains. In addition, it is very important for us to have a media fast during this time. A 21-day media fast from TV, internet videos, Netflix, and YouTube can be an amazing life-changing experience.
We encourage you to use the extra time you gain from this fast to spend time in the Word and prayer. [See Pastor's Corner]
(Dan. 10:1-3) "In the third year of the reign of King Cyrus of Persia, Daniel, also called Belshazzar, received a word in a vision. The word was true, but I understood its meaning only after much trouble in a vision.
"2" Then I, Daniel, did penance for three years.
"3" For all three years I abstained from good food, tasted neither meat nor wine, and anointed myself with no oil."

[3] Experience an answer to prayer.
Daniel experiences an amazing answer to prayer. Daniel's time was a time of desperate prayer to God for the fate of the nation. We too have a sense of urgency that we cannot live without praying for our personal future, the future of our families, and the future of our society and nations. God always keeps, protects, and guides His people. "Daniel, from the first day that you decided to humble yourself before God, He heard your prayer and answered you." We believe that the God who was faithful to Daniel will be faithful to us, the believers of WorshipFrontier, and will answer our earnest prayers.
(Dan. 10:11-13) "11" He said to me. "Now listen carefully to what I am saying to you, Daniel, the man who was greatly beloved by God; stand up. He has sent me to you now." When he said this to me, I stood up, but I still trembled.
"12" He said to me "Daniel, do not be afraid. From the first day that you decided to humble yourself before God to realize this, God has heard your prayer. I have come to answer your prayer.
"13" But the angel of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way for twenty days. Since I remained alone in Persia, Michael, one of the archangels, helped me."
